Its Managing Director, Zunita Nordin said towards this end, the company will invest RM14 million and the programme is expected to generate an income of RM3,000 monthly for each participant with a stall, and RM5,000 for those with a kiosk.

She said with the assistance of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), the programme had received good response, particularly from those in the north.

"Since the programme was launched in 2010, it has seen more than 130 participants.

"The production of the Oblong Burger has now been increased to 15 tonnes per day," she told Bernama here.

She said the company plans to create the "Oblong Burger Girl" to enhance business opportunities among women.

Zunita said STSB opened its first kiosk at the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport here and a second was launched at the Menara Alor Setar on Oct 25.

"STSB is also having discussions with PLUS to place the Oblong stalls at all its rest areas to expand the marketing of the product," she added.

STSB was formed in 2005, and had small-scale operations initially in Kepala Batas. It now has a plant in Napoh, Jitra.

Among the STSB products which have received encouraging response is the Sempoi Oblong, Sempoi O-Boolat Burger, satay and kebab.
