Other high potential small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the top 10 of E50 are KFM Holdings Sdn Bhd, Sinar Jernih Sdn Bhd, Sym World Innovation Sdn Bhd, Hyrax Oil Sdn Bhd, Magnibridge Sdn Bhd, Myagri Eco-Biosciences Sdn Bhd and Adtech Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Jointly organised by the SME Corp Malaysia and Deloitte Consulting Malaysia Sdn Bhd, E50 is an annual award programme aimed at promoting the success of local SMEs.

Telekom Malaysia Bhd and RHB Bank Bhd are the supporting sponsors, while Business Times is the official publication of the E50 award, which is now in its 16th year.

Fifty local companies were presented with the awards for their outstanding performance for the year at a gala dinner held here last night.

The awards were presented by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

Also present were SME Corp Malaysia chairman Datuk Mohamed Al-Amin Abdul Majid, SME Corp chief executive Datuk Hafsah Hashim, Deloitte Malaysia executive director Dr Nordin Zain and Deloitte Malaysia country managing partner Tan Theng Hooi.

Mustapa was pleased that for the first time since the introduction of the award, the services sector represents 60 per cent of the winners with the highest number coming from professional services.

All these years, the award has been dominated by the manufacturing sector.

"This is indeed refreshing as it truly reflects the economic base of the country, which is supported by the services sector," he said.

"In order to achieve the targets set, business cannot be as usual. We have to do things differently," he said, adding that the E50 award organisers have taken a different approach to in this year's E50 nomination.
