Yanong, a mother of seven children, started the business in 2009 with a
capital of RM20,000 from AIM and the company now employs nine workers.
Besides meatballs, the company has now diversified its product range to include chilli sauce, tomato sauce and spicy soy sauce.
At present, the company's products are marketed in shops and shopping
centres in Kinabatangan, Sandakan, Lahad Datu and Kota Kinabalu.
According to her, the product distribution is carried out by the
company with the help of wholesalers especially for areas within the
district.
"The products received encouraging response and the company's income is
currently between RM7,000 and RM10,000 per month," she told Bernama
here.
Yanong said the company is currently in the process of getting the
halal certification to enable the products to be marketed to Brunei and
Saudi Arabia.
Towards this end, the company is in the midst of fulfilling the
requirements for the halal certification and improve the quality of its
packaging.
Yanong said she focused on the meatball business as there were not many
local companies that produced the product in Sabah particularly in the
east coast.
