Pahang Information, Science and Innovation Exco chairman Datuk Mohd
Sharkar Shamsuddin said such contractors must be credible and
resourceful in managing projects if they wanted to progress and be able
to compete with other contractors who were already successful.
"Greed, chasing after projects, putting profit above quality, not
following exact specifications and not completing work according to
schedule would result in their being blacklisted, and Malay contractors
failing in business.
"They will indirectly lose out when projects are no longer given to
them," he said while launching a course for about 100 Malay Class F
contractors, organised by the Construction Industry Development Board,
here today.
He said that the government had been giving ample opportunities to
Bumiputera Class F contractors to obtain projects worth billions of
ringgit under the East Coast Economic Region Development Council.
