TM group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa said the partnership programme is in line with Digital Malaysia's Tapping the Global Demand initiatives, aimed at inspiring Malaysians to become a new class of digital entrepreneurs.

He said the programme will provide the necessary platform for Malaysian entrepreneurs to become global icons in their own right.

"Being the market leader for the Small and Medium Enterprise market, I believe that we can bring great value to the five best solutions that will be adopted under the Corporate Accelerator Programme," he told reporters after the launch of the programme by Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah here Thursday.

He also urged more participants to take part in the programme, saying they will benefit from its various talks as well as mentoring and networking sessions.

"TM will also take on board the five finalist's products and services and provide them with the relevant market access," he said.

The programme is a tripartite collaboration that brings together TM's industry and market demand knowledge, StartupMalaysia.org's global mentoring and networks expertise and also MDeC's platform in developing digital entrepreneurs via its incubation and entrepreneurship initiative to address gaps in Malaysia's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

MDeC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said entrepreneurs will be given access to industry knowledge, market validation and distribution channels to raise their game and capture the demand for digital products and services.

"I'm confident that the fostering of our partnership with TM and StartupMalaysia.org will help accelerate the growth trajectory of Malaysian digital entrepreneurs," he said.

He said the programme will select the five best solutions in line with TM's business requirements, and they will be placed in a three-month accelerator programme under the guidance of global mentors at the MSC Malaysia Technology Commercialisation Centre in Cyberjaya.

Moving forward, the long-term goal is to build an effective pipeline to catalyse 4,000 digital entrepreneurs by 2020 with global mentors under the Digital Malaysia programme, he added.

Badlisham said the programme will also serve as a prelude to larger scale Digital Accelerator programmes to be introduced next year.
