Giatmara chairman Datuk Shahiruddin Ab Moin said since the assistance
was introduced in 2005, Giatmara had been able to churn out successful,
progressive and competitive entrepreneurs.
"This year, Giatmara allocated RM12 million to 1,723 ex-trainees to venture into various businesses, nationwide.
"The RM5,000 provided is to enable them to start their business," he
told reporters after handing over the aid and launching the Pahang Zone 2
Giatmara Entrepreneurs Community, here, today.
"Giatmara targets about 10 per cent of the ex-trainees to become
entrepreneurs," he said adding that more than 300,000 youths had been
trained in various fields by Giatmara for the past 25 years.
He said three ex-Giatmara trainee cooperatives would be set up in the
central, east and west zones to gather ex-trainees to decide the
direction of their businesses and seek out more opportunities.
