The bundled product offers cloud-powered communications and the Microsoft Office 365 productivity suite through VADS to Malaysian businesses throughout the country.

Azizi said there were more than 100,000 subscribers for “Office in a Box” currently and expected the number of users to grow as cloud services was the way forward.

However, he declined to comment on how the product would translate into revenue growth as it was “still early to tell”.

“Looking at the increasing adoption of cloud computing application in the market, we see this as an opportunity to help SMEs to expand their business by introducing an all-in-one solution which is convenient and low on cost,” he said, adding that the product was in line with TM's aspiration to be a one-stop business solutions provider to help businesses grow.

Microsoft Asia-Pacific general manager (operator channels) Faycal Bouchlaghem said TM was chosen as its partner as the telco represented strong credibility.

According to Azizi, about 80% of SMEs subscribe to TM services.

Faycal said: “SMEs want to focus on their core businesses instead of spending on capital expenditure and maintaining information technology infrastructure.”

He said Office 365 would enable business owners to reduce their operating costs by utilising tools like e-mail, web-conferencing, instant messaging and online versions of Microsoft Office.

By leveraging on technology like cloud computing for business expansion, the SME sector would be lifted and thus achieve the Government's aspiration for it to contribute 40% to the country's gross domestic products versus 32% now, he added.
