He said efforts and the transformation of SMEs to produce high-quality and and high-valued products were ongoing via the SME Masterplan launched in July.

"The SME Masterplan Plan aims to enhance the contribution of SMEs to the national economy and elevate the industry to greater heights," he told reporters after opening the annual One District One Industry Showcase 2012 at the Melaka International Trade Centre in Ayer Keroh, near here.

This year's showcase, participated by 500 exhibitors including those from India and Cambodia, is targeting cash sales of RM10 million against RM4.5 million reaped last year.

On the showcase, Mustapa said the ministry was targeting the products on exhibit to achieve high-quality status and bring in more sales.
