"It is going to be a significant increase from
last year's event," SME Corp Malaysia Chief Executive Officer Datuk
Hafsah Hashim told Bernama.
Hafsah said last year's three-day showcase arranged 200 business
matching sessions with sales negotiations valued at RM247.46 million.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to officiate SMIDEX 2013, themed "SMEs Changing the Game", on June 14.
SMIDEX offers local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) a unique
opportunity to network, seal deals and forge lasting business
relationships, and is jointly organised by the Ministry of International
Trade and Industry (MITI) and SME Corp Malaysia.
SMIDEX is also a dynamic platform for Malaysia's entrepreneurs to
display their ability to match their products, services and technologies
to the fast-changing demands of the evolving national, regional and
global markets.
During SMIDEX 2013, SME Corp will sign three memorandums of
understanding --with Korea's Small and Medium Business Corporation
(SBC), Yemen's Small Enterprise Development Fund, and Entrepreneurship
Development Fund of Kazakhstan.
The MOUs will cover issues such as information exchange, support for
SME programmes, establishing of business contacts and business matching,
and attachment programme for Korean experts in Malaysian SMEs.
