In a statement Wednesday, BAE said its participation this year aimed to
promote business partnership between UK and Malaysian SMEs that would
encourage sharing of technological expertise, global market experience
and innovative ideas.
"The five British aerospace and cyber security SMEs are in Malaysia
this week seeking 'business matching' and prospective partnership
opportunities with local companies," it said.
BAE Regional Managing Director John Brosnan said the company wished to
encourage smart business matching between UK and Malaysian SMEs, as BAE
itself had demonstrated with an impressive track record in building
smart partnerships with Malaysia's leading aerospace and defence brands.
"We believe SMEs have the potential to contribute substantially to the economy.
"Hence, business matching can provide a strong foundation for the
growth of new industries and strengthen existing ones in the interest of
Malaysia's future development," he said.
BAE's participation in SMIDEX last year resulted in three UK and nine
Malaysian SMEs linking up with potential sales of up to RM19.8 million.
SMIDEX 2013, hosted by SME Corp Malaysia from today to June 14, expects
the convergence of the biggest number of exhibitors from the domestic
and international markets.
