Mara director-general Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad said RM169 million was
allocated for 1,976 Bumiputra entrepreneurs in the eastern region of
Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang last year
Furthermore, he said for entrepreneur development activities in the
region last year, 2,346 entrepreneurs had been given training and
guidance involving an allocation of RM4.1 million.
"I am confident there are those among the famous millionaires and
corporate figures today who have received aid from Mara during their
early involvements in the world of commerce.
"So this success must be used as a basis for us to carry out a more
impactful effort in the future," he said in his speech text which was
read by the Eastern Zone Mega Entrepreneurs Carnival Committee chairman
and Kelantan Mara director Mohd Ishak Zakaria in conjunction with the
programme, here.
Ibrahim said Mara was aware entrepreneurs played a major role and
directly contributed to the development of the national economy.
He said, the involvement of more Bumiputra in the field actually played
a significant role towards ensuring the political and social stability
of the nation.
He said with continuous efforts to create wealth among Bumiputra
entrepreneurs, they would no longer be marginalised from the mainstream
of the national economy.
He said, it was hoped that such programmes would bring Mara closer to
the entrepreneurs community so they could know clearly the needs and
aspirations of the entrepreneurs in the era of globalisation and steer
them towards being innovative and competitive.
