CYBERJAYA (Oct 13, 2012): Kirkby International
College (KIC) is committed to helping women in 'start-up' and 'growing
companies' to have a good command of English to grow their business,
said its president, Bismillah Khatoon Abdul Kader.
As such, she said, Kirkby collaborated with the Women Entrepreneurs
Network Association (Wena) to provide office space, training facilities
and conduct Business English courses for Wena members, under Kirkby's
new learning and development programmes to raise proficiency in English.
"Wena members are among the most talented and entrepreneurial group
of women contributing to Malaysia's SMEs (small and medium enterprises).
We need to help them to widen their business opportunities to reach
wider markets.
"They need practical support like space, soft loans and technical
advice. They also need to be able to talk and write about their products
and services in a medium that can be understood internationally," she
said in a statement here today.
Today, Kirkby and Wena marked their strategic collaboration with the
exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Kirkby was represented
by Bismillah and Wena, by its president, Nuraizah S. Baharin.
Under the Mou, Bismillah said KIC would develop the necessary trade and exchange of technical knowledge for Wena members.
She said Kirkby's learning and development programmes would prepare
the women entrepreneurs for the global market by offering workshops to
raise their proficiency in written and spoken English.
"Through this collaboration, Kirkby will be conducting English
courses to the women entrepreneurs under the Wena umbrella, with the
objective that these amazing women can expand and increase their
business opportunities," she said. – Bernama
