To strengthen the programme structure, myNEF has collaborated with
Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (TPM) to conduct the
modules as well as the SME (small and medium enterprises)
Competitiveness Rating for Enhancement (Score).
MyNEF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muhammad Ferdaus Johar told Bernama
that the investment is wholly funded by the government as part of its
initiative to involve Bumiputera entrepreneurs in ICT business.
Score was developed by SME Corp Malaysia in August 2007 as a method for measuring the ability of the SMEs.
MyNEF has a database of more than 1,000 Bumiputera technopreneurs,
which it will evaluate based on the companies' information and followed
by Score auditing.
Muhammad Ferdaus said companies with three-star ratings would undergo
the coaching programme conducted by TPM for three months following which
they would acquire the necessary business skills.
Meanwhile, TPM President and CEO Datuk Azman Shahidin said the company
would conduct the programme in two batches this year with a maximum of
30 participants for each batch.
"Currently, we are in the process of identifying the companies, we feel
that around 80 per cent has not been 'scored' yet," he said.
The evaluation will take place from now till August 15, 2013 and the
selected companies will be trained and coached by trainers with hands-on
experience in business enterprise.
Azman said after the mentoring and coaching programme, the
entrepreneurs would have higher self-esteem, improved confidence level
and the right mindset to becoming successful ICT entrepreneurs.
TPM, an agency of Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation
(Mosti), has an integrated infrastructure, facilities and support
services to assist technoprenuers and entrepreneurs commercialise their
ideas in four industries namely ICT, engineering, biotechnology and
green technology.
MyNEF, which was formed in 1997, is a non-profit organisation
established by ICT and creative industry players in partnership with the
government.
