PETALING JAYA: The Star Business Awards (Soba) is back to unearth business gems among small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The awards, in its fourth year, gives participants an opportunity to self-check and also network with key business professionals and the business fraternity, said Soba 2013 chairman Iris Tan.

“We hope more enterprises and entrepreneurs will use the awards to take stock and benchmark themselves against their competitors and the best in the industry,” she said during the launch and sponsorship presentation.
This year's panel of judges comprise representatives from the Associated Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia, Association of Accredited Adverti-sing Agents of Malaysia, Branding Association of Malaysia, Federation of Malaysian Manu-facturers, Malaysian Advertisers Association, Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, SMI Association of Malaysia and EXIM Bank.

As with past years, over RM1mil worth of advertising space in the
Star media group will be up for grabs, from print to online to radio.
Platinum winners will receive RM50,000 worth of ad space, Gold RM40,00 and Silver RM30,000.
Under the Outstanding Achievement Awards category, grand prize winners will bag RM50,000 worth of ad space.
Winners will also receive the coveted Star Business Awards trophy and be eligible for preferential rates for ads in The Star carrying the award logo.
There
will also be free financial consultation for those venturing abroad
from EXIM Bank, which returns for the third time as presenter of the
awards.
Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur is the official hotel partner for the fourth year.
Soba
is held with the support of Bursa Malaysia, with Red Tomato as the
official Chinese newspaper and both 98.8FM and RedFM the official radio
stations.
The awards are audited by BDO.
