KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade) is set to identify 50 local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) involved in producing fast-moving consumer goods to showcase their products at the Malaysia Trade Centre Singapore (MTCS), which will be held at the end of the year.
Senior director export development division Datuk Dzulkifli Mahmud said only SMEs registered with Matrade can participate in the six-month event.
"MTCS will be a platform for SMEs to promote products in Singapore and to other Asian countries as well as Europe.
"We are directly exporting to Singapore, but this programme is an addition to what we have done. In order to penetrate other markets, we need many channels," he said.
Dzulkifli said this at a media briefing on the sidelines of the "Prospects For FMCG in Singapore", organised by Matrade here yesterday.
Total value of Malaysia-Singapore trade between January and July 2012 rose 10 per cent to RM102.553 billion compared with RM93.222 billion in the same period last year. Bernama
