KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Association of
Bumiputera ICT Industry and Entrepreneurs (NEF) Thursday signed a
memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia Venture Vapital (Mavcap)
to collaborate in developing a framework to help technopreneurs expand
their business.
Association President Ashran Datuk Ghazi said the MoU was signed under
the "Merger and Acquisition" programme where the association acts as a
support system and self-help group for technopreneurs, focusing on
obtaining funding, market access, technopreneur development and
creativity and development.
"We will gather the companies which are interested in merging and expand
their business by seeking funds from Mavcap," he told Bernama after the
MoU signing today at the Telekom Malaysia Convention Centre witnessed
by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Ashran said NEF is currently drafting the framework which is expected to be out within the next three months.
"We hope that all technopreneurs especially Bumiputera companies take
advantage of the collaboration to expand their business by merging," he
said.
NEF is currently assisting five companies including one creative content firm looking to merge and expand its business, he said.
"We are encouraging all technopreneurs to participate in this programme
as it would help to expand their business especially into the overseas
market," he said, adding the programme is open to all technopreneurs
including in the creative content, mobile and software sectors.
NEF has registered over 1,000 individual members and 500 companies, he said.
