SINGAPORE, June 28 (Bernama) -- JTC Corporation's Surface Engineering
Hub, launched Thursday by the Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng
Kiang, will be completed by the first half of 2013.
Lim said the hub is the latest JTC infrastructure project dedicated to the surface engineering industry.
"This follows what JTC has done for the other industries at the MedTech
Hub, the Seletar Aerospace Park, CleanTech Park and the Offshore Marine
Centre," he said at the launch, adding the hub will host surface
engineering companies, equipment suppliers, chemical solution providers
and plating technology researchers.
It will provide shared facilities, such as a centralised waste
treatment plant, which aims to reduce the initial set-up costs and
recurring operational costs.
To date, 13 companies, mostly small and medium enterprises, have
already shown interest to take up about 40 per cent of the space in the
hub.
