State LPP Director Shamsuddin Mat Rani told Bernama efforts to boost
loan repayments will be stepped up this year in order to generate funds
for new projects, with the estimated 600 borrowers, each with loans of
between RM5,000 to RM7,000, being given verbal or written reminders.
Last year, 52 LPP members in the state were brought to arbitration, he
said, adding some had not paid up even after seven years.
Most of the unpaid loans were in the form of fertilisers and other
goods or for chicken rearing projects, which alone accounted for up to
RM3 million of the outstanding debt and which failed due to diseases or
floods, he added.
