The industrial city is within the flagship Zone E of Iskandar Malaysia.

“The i-park and SME City will be launched next month and construction is expected to complete in 2014,” Axis AME IP executive director Datuk Stewart LaBrooy told reporters here today.

The main focus of the industrial city, he said, is to provide multinational corporations (MNCs), manufacturers, logistics providers and high technology industries an industrial park built to international standards to relocate their businesses to.

According to LaBrooy, both joint venture partners share a common vision in creating high quality industrial parks to attract MNCs to set up their businesses here.

“These industries most importantly act as a catalyst for the creation of jobs, new SME industries, while driving demand for housing and commercial spaces in the township of Indahpura and the Kulaijaya district,” he said.

With the cost issue hampering margins on companies operating in Singapore, Axis AME IP, he said, are targeting the republic’s SMEs and other MNCs to relocate to their industrial city.

“They need to relocate somewhere else and the “i-Park” and “SME City” would be the perfect match for their business needs,” he said, adding that they are planning to develop similar industrial cities in other parts of the country likeSelangor, Kuantan and the northern states of the peninsula.

Kelvin Lee, who is also the joint venture company’s excutive director, said they have been receiving visits from business association from across the Causeway who are interested to relocate to the industrial city. — Bernama
