The company is also confident that it will give rise to budding entrepreneurs to set up shop, and help small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to expand.

Ranbuild is a durable galvanised steel pre-engineered building solution that is similar to the Ikea model of do-it-yourself.

BESSB general manager, Leong Wai Yuan, said Ranbuild can offer industrial building owners, manufacturers and SMEs savings of 20 per cent to set up a warehouse or factory, as compared with a custom-made building.

Ranbuild, invented by Australian-listed BlueScope Steel Ltd, the largest steel group in Australia and Asia, is also able to cut construction time by sixfold from 12 months currently, Leong said.

"The light-weight cold-form galvanised steel framework is 60 per cent lighter than the conventional mild steel and easy to handle. It will take less than two months to set up a building," Leong said.

"We are going into the heavy industries market with innovation and clean technology. There will be no wastage. The solution comes in a kit, complete with a manual, like the Ikea model," he said.

BESSB is a wholly-owned unit of BlueScope Steel. The Ranbuild business model has been in the local market since 2010.

Its existing clients include planters, timber outfits, and industrial players in the Borneo market.

"We are a new kid on the block in terms of this product offering, but we are the market leader. We believe the business will grow as foreign labour is not going to come easy in the near future.

"Currently, we are serving the Borneo market heavily. It offers better opportunities as most of the timber and plantation companies are located in rural areas, where logistics and infrastructure is lacking," Leong told Business Times in an interview.

He said the next growth area for BESSB is the industrial segment in the east coast, northern and southern regions.

In the Klang Valley, BESSB is eyeing international schools to build sports complexes, Leong said.
